What To Expect at The International Sand Sculpting Festival

Sand sculptors from around the globe head to Revere each year as they get ready for the competition and festival that brings joy to hundreds of thousands of visitors. The competition serves as a testament to the creativity and awe-inspiring art and culture that the New England area is famous for.

Situated in the heart of Massachusetts along the picturesque shoreline in Revere, you will find not only a competition of artists for the ages but also a festival that welcomes people from across the country. This festival draws diverse audiences including artists, visitors, tourists and families alike. A beer garden will also be available for those 21+.

During the three-day festival, expect not only to view sculptures that will capture your imagination but also enjoy international cuisine including dishes from 75 popular food trucks along Revere Boulevard, live music performances at various locations along the boardwalk, games and activities for children and adults, amusement rides and fireworks over the water after dusk.

What To Bring To the Festival

While the annual Sand Sculpture Festival is free to attend, you will want to bring some items to make your trip even more enjoyable.

Activities and games are free for your children but if you plan to take a ride on one of the amusements or purchase food from one of the food trucks, bring a little bit of cash for those purposes.

If you plan to enjoy the beach for the day as well as the sand sculptures, bring all items needed for that including beach chairs, coolers, sand toys and the like.

Bring some patience as last year there was an estimated 500,000-750,000 people who attended over the course of the three-day event. Last year, there were visitors from 35 states and 14 countries who came to Revere Beach for the event.

If you plan to stay over and take part in multiple days of the festival, Revere has ample accommodations including 1,200 hotel rooms for this very event. Revere’s hotels are all located on major routes or near mass transit while offering the best amenities at a cheaper rate than lodging downtown. Visit Next Stop Revere for information on lodging and accommodations for your stay as well as ideas of other locations in nearby communities including Boston, the North Shore, South Shore and right here in Revere that you can explore during your trip.
