Ahhhhh summer. For children who spend the vast majority of their year in a classroom, summer is the ultimate time to relax, enjoy the outdoors and catch up with friends. For many of us, summer means vacations, hanging at the beach, and taking part in activities we don’t have time for the rest of the year.
The Recreation Department in Revere, Massachusetts has a long list of things to do, places to visit, and activities to take part in for children and adults alike. Let’s explore some of the top options if you are a child looking for some fun or a parent looking to keep your children happy, safe, and entertained all summer long!
Theater Thursdays
Every Thursday on Revere Beach, Revere Recreation offers a movie on the beach. The movies begin at dusk and the entertainment is from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM with music, popcorn, and cotton candy. This is a free weekly event. So bring your beach chair, and a towel, and get ready to enjoy a night under the stars watching a movie!
Check our Revererec site for a full list of movies.
Friday Field Trips
Field Trips are a chance for children to get out and about and experience something a little special. Revere Recreation offers Field Trips every Friday during the summer to places such as Six Flags, Canobie Lake Park, TreeTop Adventures, and Water Country.
Trips are different every week. Check out the link to register and get your child on a fun Friday Field Trip.
Basketball Tournament
Playing basketball can be a great workout and a way to connect with friends. That’s why every summer Revere sponsors a 21+ Basketball Tournament dubbed “Battle for the City.”
Held at the Harry Della Russo Stadium, this 3-on-3 basketball tournament is for our 21 and older crowd. Pre-register your team with a guarantee of three games. Stay and watch the competition throughout the day and enjoy a free barbecue!
Sports & Camps
Tennis, basketball, T-ball, lacrosse, soccer, boxing, and paddleboarding are just some of the fun sports camps your child can register for each summer. Add in fun activities like dance and art and your child will be kept busy and happy all summer long.
Aquatics
In addition to sports camps, activities, and special events all summer, Revere Parks and Recreation offers swim lessons and swim activities throughout the summer mons at Garfield Pool. Check out swim classes and registration online.
End of the Year Color Party
At the close of every summer, we celebrate with an ultimate dance party. Participants will be doused in environmentally friendly color powder from head to toe while dancing with friends to mark the end of summer!
All participants will receive four bags of color powder with admission. The purchase of additional powder will be available. During this event, there is a DJ, Photo Booth, pizza, and more. The recommended attire: white t-shirts and sneakers.
For more information about camps, activities, and special events this summer visit the Revere Rec website and find out how your child and family can enjoy these lazy, hazy days together!
