Just because the temperatures are falling and the days are getting shorter, doesn’t mean there isn’t something enjoyable for everyone. The Boston area, including Revere and the surrounding communities, offers many options for winter fun. Let’s explore what you might want to do in the coming weeks within an hour of Revere. 

Revere’s Winter Wonderland

Get ready to step into a magical realm of icy enchantment at the Revere Beach Winter Wonderland on February 3, 2024! View magnificent ice sculptures created by world-class artists and vote for your favorite during the People’s Choice competition. 

This day of festive cheer is filled with activities such as hot chocolate tastings, shopping at our Winter Market, a Chili Cook-Off, fire pits, live entertainment, and much more!

Boston Outdoor Activities 

Just because the weather is chilly doesn’t mean you have to hide indoors all winter. Bundle up and get ready for some fun excursions in nature in the Boston area this winter. 

Winter Wildlife Cruise 

Boston Harbor Now is offering a 3-hour curated cruise to observe animals who make their wintertime home in Boston Harbor and the outer Harbor Islands. Learn about winter animals and how they survive in New England from Naturalists at the National Park Service. The cruise will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 11:00 pm -3:30 pm. Ice Skating on Boston Common Frog Pond 

There is something very special about skating on a pond outdoors in the winter. The crisp air, the warm mittens and the sounds of the blades on ice are enthralling. Bring your skates, or rent them, at Frog Pond on Boston Common and feel like you are skating in the middle of a winter wonderland. Check out the hours and rules on their site and get going on practicing your twirls and figure eights! 

Winter Wander on Peddocks Island 

If you enjoy a brisk winter hike to explore nature, this Winter Wander on Peddocks Island is just the right activity for you. Wander the trails of Peddocks Island to view animal tracks and traces of animal activity. This guided tour is filled with lots of learning. Rangers encourage hikers to bring solid shoes or snow shoes as well as lunch and wool socks! 

Just Outside of Boston

There may be a lot to do in Boston during the winter, but just outside Route 128, there are even more opportunities for winter fun. 

Skiing & Tubing at Nashoba Valley 

Nashoba Valley Ski Area is located in Westford, Massachusetts, and is home to some amazing skiing, snowboarding and tubing for outdoor enthusiasts. Less than an hour outside of Boston, this ski area is great for making a quick day trip or making a full weekend out of it. Don’t worry if you’ve never skied before, they offer lessons and rentals. They also have a cozy and warm lodge to thaw out in, or wait for your loved ones, while you enjoy a beverage and a meal. 

Bradford Mountain
